What an inspiration! – to witness and applaud the All-City Panorama set by Teens @ Graham Director Amelie Benard – a magnificently energized testimony to the Martha Graham Company‘s future-facing legacy on the eve of the Centennial – a pivotal look – back at the tradition and a visionary gaze toward the second century.
It was a momentous institutional moment, as well as a very emotional personal one – for me to embrace and congratulate A Apostol, LaRue Allen, Janet Eilber, Ashley Brown, Blakely White-McGuire, Lloyd Knight, Anne Souder, Xin Ying, Leslie Andrea Williams, Laurel Dalley Smith, Marzia Memoli, and Jacob Larsen.
And it was an honor to publish my long essay on the Martha Graham Company in the April 2026 issue of THE BROOKLYN RAIL.
